Under the supervision of the Johor State Education Department, Johor Student Leaders Council (JSLC) was founded as a selective student body on July 29, 2010.

Its members were picked through a series of selection camps and interviews. With the best local and worldwide trainings available, JSLC is in charge of organizing community-based and international programs for students.

After completing the two-year JSLC program, the members chose to continue contributing to the development of youth leaders in the state and the country, and from there, an alumni group known as JSLCA was formed.

Aside from training existing JSLC members, JSLCA's principal objective is to improve leadership qualities among Malaysian students at all academic levels, from elementary school all the way to college and university, in an effort to provide the country with the best potential pool of future leaders.
